What a gem! So glad I found this place and decided to stay here rather than in any of the bigger downtown hotels. I don’t think I have ever had a warmer, more welcoming reception at any hotel - Anna at the front desk was just wonderful, and everyone else that I encountered was super friendly, too. Loved the retro look, the lounge and patio are fantastic, great coffee in the morning, squeaky clean room with a very (!) comfortable bed. On top of that, the location is hard to beat, I could walk everywhere, felt entirely safe (a concern for women traveling solo), and even though the hotel sits off a busy three lane street, there were no noise issues whatsoever. Recommendations for breakfast places were spot on, too. Oh, and free parking on the premises, in downtown. The Longleaf will definitely be my first choice in Raleigh from now on!

Such attention paid to period details with modern touches. Love that the 1960s property wasn't torn down, but reimagined as this cool and modern space. Plenty of free parking. Comfortable beds. A NA mini-bar in the room with sodas, water, and North Carolina-made snacks that were actually really well-priced. Room in the fridge for a small box of leftovers or some breakfast, too. (Though you could also purchase pastries from a local awesome bakery in the Lounge!) A filtered water dispenser in the hallways (ice provided was small bags in a slightly broken freezer drawer).

The Longleaf was the perfect locationn for a quick trip to Raleigh to see a concert at the Red Hat Ampitheater with my daughter. The staff was AMAZING! The moment we checked in the staff was exceptional. We asked for a photo of our concert outfits, recommendatons for breakfast and a nice conversation with my complimentary Counter Culture coffee in the morning. The room was cute! Loved the tie dye robe, the Malin-Goetz toiletries and the wonderful bed! The soda in the mini fridge was perfect for our after concert refreshment. The shower was a dream!

I like picking places that are “different”. You guys offered cool snacks and drinks. The bathroom was clean and the housekeeping staff did a great job of paying special attention to their job, including even making a cool design on the bath tissue. (I didn’t have cash with me to leave for them and I always make a point to do this but I promise I will make it up to them next time if you will tell me who cleaned room 36 so I can take care of them, please!! Real talk, please. You have my email.)

Its not often that I rate all categories as exceptional, but at Longleaf this applies. The old motel has been refurbished beautifully, and it feels like you're stepping back into the late 1950's when you walk in. The attention to detail in the lounge and lobby is fantastic. Maybe its childhood nostalgia, but I expect it is a lot more than that. My visit was for business, but I definitely want to come back for a leisure weekend.
